On Thursday 12th March, the Gradwell team headed to Eight Members Club in Moorgate, London, for our first partner event of the year. Our event was focused on Direct Routing & Disruption in Telecoms and we were joined by industry experts and speakers from Microsoft, Cavell Group and Vuzion. The event featured interesting talks, informative panel discussions and a live demo of our latest product, Wave.
Cloud-based systems are rising
Our first talk was from Dom Black, Head of Research at Cavell Group. Dom gave us an overview of his latest research into market trends, development and activity.
Dom talked us through his research into cloud communications and what areas of telecoms have grown substantially in comparison to previous years. Dom identified a rise in cloud-based systems and in particular, SIP Trunks, with the upcoming ISDN switch off.
Dom also discussed the changing workplace and the rise of remote working, subcontractors, automation and cloud applications. Following this research, he gave advice about how our partners can find the right solutions and systems for their customers, as they make the move to the cloud and make changes in conjunction with the evolving workplace.

Microsoft Teams & Business Voice
Our second talk was from Nicolàs Charritton, Product Marketing Manager at Microsoft. Nicolàs spoke to us about Microsoft Teams and Business Voice, and gave us a glimpse at how Microsoft will be developing Teams over time.
Nicolàs spoke us through the benefits of Microsoft Teams and the innovative features that the system provides, specifically for small businesses and start-up companies.
The next half of his presentation explained how Teams can be distributed to our partners and their customers, including pricing and the growing opportunities that Teams provides. Nicolàs provided information and links on how to market Teams, including pitches, resources, demos and adoption of the system.

‘How will Teams change business telecoms?’ : Panel discussion
Our panel discussion was focused on: ‘How will Teams change business telecoms?’ We were joined by Dom, Nicolàs, Peter Gradwell, founder and CTO of Gradwell Communications and Craig Gordon, Head of Vuzion.
The panel delved into the importance of integrating Teams with the current PBX infrastructure, how the move away from ISDN is affecting the industry and how corporations like Microsoft, Amazon and Google are disrupting the business market. They also discussed how resellers can benefit from Teams and the changes they’re making to their system.

Wave tour & Demonstration
To round-up the event, our Technical Sales Engineer, Corbin Dijkstra and Peter Gradwell gave our partners a live demonstration on our new hosted VoIP phone system, Wave. This included an overview of the product, highlighting the major differences between Wave and MUV, and showing the functionalities of Wave.
